Habitus
Body yellow/orange (after preparation
colourless or only slightly yellow). Eyes absent (also in living
specimens).
-
Cuticle
Dorso-lateral cuticle covered with a faint reticular pattern with
irregular ridges, better developed caudally (mesh 1.7-5.1 µm in
diameter) and with nine transverse rows of gibbosities
(IX:4-6-5-6-5-6-4-2-2). Gibbosity rows II, IV and VI are in line
with legs I, II and III, respectively. Lateral gibbosities in rows I
and VII (i.e. gibbosities Ib and VIIb,
respectively) shifted caudally relative to the dorsal gibbosities.
In the remaining rows gibbosities arranged linearly. All legs
without gibbosities but outer portions covered with sculpture.
Ventral cuticle smooth (i.e., without sculpturing, tubercles or
gibbosities).
-
Buccal
apparatus
Mouth antero-ventral. Peribuccal
lamellae and papulae absent. Bucco-pharyngeal apparatus of the
Macrobiotus type. Oral cavity armature comprises six ventral
large round teeth arranged in two rows of three teeth each. However,
in some specimens additional 1-5 smaller teeth are present in
between the two main rows (e.g. in the holotype a there is single
additional tooth in between the main median teeth). Buccal tube with
a ventral lamina and with a single anterior bend (visible in lateral
view only). In pharyngeal bulb two rod-shaped macroplacoids present, both without
constrictions, length sequence 2<1. Microplacoid and septulum absent.
-
Legs and claws
Claws of the Isohypsibius
type, similar in shape on all legs. External claws I-III and
anterior claws IV slightly larger than internal claws I-III and
posterior claws IV, respectively. Primary branches of claws with
thin accessory points ending at the highest point of the primary
branch. Small, smooth and indistinct lunules present on all legs,
but better developed only on legs IV. Bars and other cuticular
thickenings on legs absent.
-
Eggs
Four smooth eggs were found in one
exuvium.
-
Remarks
In some
individuals both the cuticular sculpture and gibbosities are well
defined whereas in others weakly developed and therefore difficult
to identify under PCM.
